Flak 37 8.8cm
Originally developed as an anti-aircraft weapon, the Flak 37 8.8cm (or Eighty-eight as it became known by Allied troops) had a high muzzle velocity to allow it to reach the higher ranges modern bombers were capable of at the time. This would make it an exceptionally deadly anti-tank weapon as many Allied tank crews would learn to their peril.

M10 Wolverine
The M10's M7 3-inch (76.2mm) anti-tank gun was a considerable improvement over the 75mm carried by the Sherman. The M10’s relatively thin 37mm of armour (and open-topped five-sided welded turret) on the other hand made it vulnerable to anti-tank weapons, so its main role became defensive, often firing from concealed positions.

Volksgrenadiers
Formed around a core of Veteran Troops and armed with the new StG44, the Volksgrenadiers head to battle in defense of their homeland! After suffering a double loss (both Army group Center in Operation Bagration, and the Fifth Panzer Army to the Allies in Normandy) the German Army created some 78 Volksgrenadier divisions from Autumn 1944 onwards.

Spread around the globe, Royal Navy ships were able to put ashore units of armed sailors as landing parties, shore patrols or in boarding actions against other vessels.
Australian militia infantry section (Pacific)
The militia was trained and equipped to a lesser degree than their regular counterparts in the Australian Imperial Force and only allowed to be deployed within Australia and its mandated territories. This led to the AIF’s derogatory nickname of Chockos, for the militia – chocolate soldiers who would melt in the heat of battle.

Produced by Fiat Ansaldo, the M13/40 was the main battle tank of the Italian army in World War II and served throughout the war following its introduction in 1940. Although designated as a medium tank it was more in line with the light tanks of other nations at the time.

105mm calibre and larger howitzers were employed at the divisional level. These long-ranged, heavy-hitting, weapons could sometimes be overrun and in bolt action provide a fearsome objective to take on for both men and machines.

Inspired by the powerful British Churchill Crocodile and their own experiences in the Pacific with other versions of flamethrower tanks the US army ordered some 100 Sherman Crocodile variants from the British, who were recognised as leading the field in Flamethrower technology.

Battle For France The battle for France saw Matilda IIs fighting what would become a general retreat. However, Matildas caused problems for the Germans, whose 37mm and 50mm anti-tank guns were simply too small in calibre to penetrate the thick armour of the Matilda.

Panzergrenadier units in armoured half-tracks, trucks and field cars helped the infantry to keep pace with their armoured brethren. By the time of the invasion of Russia in 1941 the panzergrenadiers had equipped their troop leaders' half-tracks with the standard anti-tank gun of the day - the 37mm PaK 36.
Sd.Kfz 251 D Ausf D Pionierwagen
The Sd.Kfz 251/7 Ausf D half-tracked engineer commonly known as the Pionierwagen. Based on the ubiquitous Sd.Kfz 251 Hanomag half-track, the Pionierwagen was a very useful vehicle for the assault engineers of the German Army, seeing service on all fronts, from the vast open areas of the Russian Front to the rubble-choked streets of Berlin in 1945.
M8/M20 Scout car
The M8 Greyhound was originally designed to replace the US military's portee gun in an anti-tank role, but was quickly repurposed once it was realised that its performance against German armour was lacking. It found use as a popular and successful armoured car that served American and British armies well throughout the war.
Soviet NKVD squad
In 1941 the Soviet Union’s fortified borders were manned by units of the NKVD (People’s Commissariat for Internal Affairs). These units were almost entirely destroyed in the first weeks of the campaign.
US Airborne support group (1944-45)
